James Bond - Two thumbs down
Went to see the new James Bond movie last night - if you dont want to read my thoughts on the movie or only want to read internet marketing then there is probably nothing here for you.
Wow - this movie was bad, really bad. From the moment it starts to the end the plot was all over the place and all of the fun cheesy things in a James Bond movie were totally missing - if this was not a James Bond movie it might have been a direct to video release - it is really that bad.
The movie starts with the obligatory action scene then moves from one aub par action scene to another with almost no reason why things are happening or who the characters are or why they are important.
Bond seems to just bumble through the movie with unexplained reasons for things happening, we dont understand why he is doing what he is doing almost the entire movie. The dialog is crap - heck the evil reason the movie happens is basically - huge international syndicate plotting to horde the water supply of a poor country and charge the country double the price of water!!! You got to be kidding me. Sure there is money in a water scam, but it hardly explains the existence of an international conspiracy.
There is not a single funny line in the entire movie - a bond staple.
There in a not a single Q branch gadget in the movie - another staple.
The bond theme does not play at all until the credits roll - another disappointment.
The bond girls I guess are attractive, but nothing that turns heads in the movie - and where is Holly Goodhead or Pussy Galore or Zenia Onatop or Doctor Christmas.
The only reason 10 million Americans will go see this drivel this weekend is the Bond name. As someone who has seen every single one of them multiple times - I would rate this below Octopussy or On Her Majesty’s Secret Service - easily the two worst Bond movies in my mind. Worse than Octopussy - I did not think that was possible…
Here is a billion plus dollar action franchise that built itself on certain things and managed to not even pay lip service to any of the things that made the franchise and did not even do any action scenes which were even average - I quickly count 10 action type scenes - pretty much all of which were bad. I am fairly certain I will not be rushing back to watch the next one until friends tell me it is awesome.

Its not that bad, its by a new director, its going to be different - it was still a 7/10 for me.
They did try to immatate bourne, something they should never have done with bond :/

It was a bad copy of the Bourne movies - the scene in the train station of the last one was one of the best movie scenes I think I have ever seen.
I would have been fine with something as well done as the Bourne movies - this was just junk!

Yeah saw it in Paris earlier this month and gotta say that I was disappointed with the ending — it could have been much better. However, I did enjoy the action sequence.

Paul greengrass is quiet a radical filmmaker and a guy who appreciates intelligence in the real world. The words “this is real, this guys will kill you” is one of the better lines i have ever heard in a movie - when bourne is talking to that reporter dude.
If you havent watched bloodysunday, by god you are missing out lol. I cant wait for the next latin based, brazil shot bourne.

I disagree with you on this one on a couple points. I’m an avid bond fan as well, and I’ve seen each movie at least 25 times (I own them all, including the 1950’s american bond where he’s a cia agent, and the spoof from the 60’s as well). On her majesty’s secret service, while “sub par” because it didn’t have Connery (or Moore depending on who you fancy), but it actually had a very good story line and was one of the better bond films in that aspect. I do agree with you on octopussy though, that one - not so hot.
Now, on to the new film. I saw this one a couple weeks ago (a shitty TS mind you) but I thought it was quite good. I read that the angle for this film was “revenge” and they even summed it up at the end about his “revenge” is over now - I believe they will continue to be “Gritty” films like the last one, and this one was. But they will get back into the gadgetry and the classic “oh bond..” lines that make the movies so great. They have to, otherwise they’ve lost it entirely and will lose a huge fanbase (anyone 25 years and older).
This one was a little like the Bourne franchise, but, that’s what today’s audience expects, fast, quick camera cuts, etc. We all have ADD so I guess it makes sense.
I too was very disappointed in the introduction of the movie that there wasn’t a proper bond theme. Not to mention the fact that they broke all the rules and showed scenes from within the movie and not just hot naked silouette girls floating around with lava lamps.
I’d give it a 6.5/10 just because of the intro, and missing gadgets/theme song usage and classic bond humor, but if I didn’t care about that, probably a 8.5/10.

and i thought i was the only one pulling the keyword in comments section trick. Lol.
Its just that the world has changed , in a nutshell we all know those poor terrorists are getting their nuts cracked over at guatanamo. Sick* and to have some gadget movie running around the screens might not be too of a bright idea.
You aint gonna beleive this but i hated the intro. Jack could have used a better voice. I love alicia keys but this aint her fight. Maybe christina.. now that would have been something.
Cheers Nick
