Content is King?

We recently made a strong push into Google content in a new account and noticed some interesting things.

  • Our volume in each account was fairly similar
  • Similar keyword sets
  • One account focused on many keywords in a single adgroup
  • Other account focused on 1 keyword per adgroup
  • We have yet to see a page where both accounts content displayed, despite different Display URL’s

  • We have seen zero deterioration in volume in the existing account. We have spoken with some co-opitition and they have not seen a spike in Content impressions in same period. The majority of sites we find show neither of our ads.

    This leads us to believe that there is a huge keyword extrapolation and expansion opportunity in content since each method of keyword grouping seems to work but do not appear to steal any traffic from one another. 2,3,4 keyword groupings. Can we target specific sites by using specific content from those sites? What about one highly targetted keyword and one place name (many of the sites we do not appear on are newspapers…)
