Comment Hut
Recently discovered Comment Hut and am finding its utility to be very nice.
I am sure some people will use it for spam, but we actually were able to place some good comments on relevant blogs in spaces where we have gotten both link love from Google, as well as some vistors who ended up generating revenue for us which was totally unexpected.
We have several sites that are designed to be SEO’d. They appear to be fairly non-commercial and have well written articles by experts on a wide variety of topics. The problem is we are not SEO experts and the sites were languishing in the 20’s and 30’s on Google for the keywords we wanted to rank for.
I actually purchased the $97 version of the program to keep an intern busy over the Christmas break. Good kid who we liked having in the office (son of our lawyer), but for whom we did not really have a ton of work for him to do since his analytical skills were lacking. So I basically created some work for him.
I had him run the Comment Hut software on our major keywords, with the instruction to read and thoughtfully respond with a link to one of our information sites with the proper keyword as anchor text. I had him keep a log of comments, as well as check back for reactions etc. As of 1/31 every single one of his comments was approved and posted. I attribute this to the fact that he took the time to read the original post and then post something thoughtful and informative rather than something spammy.
As a result of his efforts (something we thought we would get almost zero return from), we are now on the first page of Google for 12 major keywords, none of which were previously higher than 15th. This has generated significant middle 5 figure revenues in less than 6 weeks.
I hesitated to post this, because I see the huge negative spam consequences possible, but at the same time, a simple 3 week campaign has us on pace to generate nearly $500,000 in additional annual revenues from these sites that were not performing well at all. This is worth taking the time to do properly, and I put out a part-time job request looking for a College Student to do this for us 4-5 hours per week.
A few things we had that were likely important in getting these results-
For us $97 to own the software was a minor thing, I am sure this could be replicated by Technorati or other Blog search engines. The thing I liked, was that it was looking specifically for blogs that were already ranking for the keyword we wanted in Google, so that when we put that keyword in our link anchor text, we were quickly able to get a nice boost for the exact search term we were targeting. To not waste time, it was worth the money.
